Current development
v.6Refinement in the open
In progress
The new beta refines the whole workspace in response to live use — sharpening the research tools, reading surfaces, and public site as readers put them to work.
Phases 24–30
v.5A more expressive scholarly workspace
Released
This release reshaped Palimnote into a more tactile, readable, and responsive place to study difficult texts, and opened the Research workspace.
- Introduced the editorial motion and interaction foundation, with reader-controlled motion and interface sound settings.
- Refined the public site with readable editorial motion, tactile feedback, and an accessible interactive knowledge graph.
- Polished the signed-in dashboard, library, upload, roadmap, graph, trash, and writing surfaces with richer selection, progress, loading, and empty states.
- Reworked reader marginalia so notes stay clear of the side rails, and laid the verified foundation for labelled foreign-text recovery, transliteration, and translation.
- Published the Beta v.5 badge and a public development timeline tracing Palimnote’s releases from foundation to the current work.
- Removed user-facing processing cost data while keeping analysis available without monetary figures.
- Gave Ask Library conversations a guided greeting with suggested questions, thinking and reply cues with optional sound, day-grouped messages, and a way to switch between past conversations.
- Added a feedback option to every page footer — report a bug, share an idea, or send praise without leaving the page.
- Rebuilt the Visualization map: a plate-style backdrop with glowing emphasis, distinct shapes for works, people, and concepts, reading-state and credibility cues, curved connection lines, a concepts focus mode, and an equally capable sortable table view.
- Added account pages: edit your profile and avatar, see your reading activity at a glance, review your plan, control data sharing, and delete your account with a safe, fully verified cleanup.
- Fixed a glitch where the account and settings menus would close by themselves right after a page loaded.
- Menus now stay open even when a mouse or trackpad accidentally double-fires a click.
- Menus now ignore accidental repeat clicks entirely and close when you click anywhere else — matching how menus usually behave.
- Opened the Research workspace: create projects across your library, extract each work's claims with verbatim source excerpts, and trace agreements, disagreements, and debates between works.
- Added evidence-centred study tools — debate clusters, evidence reviews, and suggested hypotheses — each carrying confidence and a path back to the source passage.
- Brought dedicated research modes to Ask Library, and let projects import outside works by DOI or reference so a debate can include literature beyond your uploads.
- Added scheduled monitoring for newly relevant literature, plus a full correction trail: verify, dispute, edit, hide, or restore any generated claim with its revision history preserved.
Phases 19–23
v.4Reliability, accessibility, and completion
Released
A broad completion program made the working research environment more dependable, consistent, and accessible across its core reading flows.
- Strengthened processing reliability and made document status easier to understand.
- Expanded keyboard, screen-reader, contrast, and responsive-layout coverage.
- Unified the product interface and hardened the paths readers use most often.
Phases 12–18
v.3From edition to connected workspace
Released
Palimnote grew beyond a single reading surface into a connected environment for writing, exploration, and questions grounded in a reader’s own library.
- Added the Writer workspace for developing ideas alongside source material.
- Made relationships between works explorable through the research visualization.
- Introduced Ask Library for passage- and citation-grounded conversations.
Phases 8–11
v.2A critical-edition learning workspace
Released
The early reader became a more rigorous critical-edition pipeline and a personal learning workspace, taking on the Palimnote name.
- Deepened structural analysis, citation resolution, and passage-anchored annotation.
- Added learning routes and workspace tools that preserve the path back to the source.
- Established Palimnote’s scholarly identity across the reading experience.
Phases 0–7
v.1The foundation
Released
The first release proved the central idea: a reader could upload a difficult work and receive a traceable study environment around it.
- Established accounts, document upload, and the first interactive reader.
- Connected analysis, annotation, and a dependency-ordered reading roadmap.
- Built the initial public site and hardened the end-to-end foundation.
